Tulsa and art deco go hand in hand. I created a repeating pattern using the Oklahoma state bird, the scissor-tailed fly catcher. This digital piece is crisp and colorful; elegantly geometric; classic yet Oklahoman. Currently, it is available in my shop as a beautiful throw pillow.

New colorful Tulsa piece! I painted lots of little squares in lots of colors and labeled them according to Tulsa landmarks and Tulsa favorites. Wow I love how it turned out and can’t wait to share these with you all.

May is a month of celebrations. It’s filled to the brim with events and holidays. From Mother’s Day, Graduations, Teacher Appreciation Week, Anniversaries, Weddings, Birthdays, there’s always something to celebrate in May.

Southern Hills Country Club’s member appreciation party called for some beautiful custom watercolor paintings of the course, club house, skyline and more.

April in Tulsa is the absolute best. The Tulips start blooming at the beginning of the month, followed by the vibrant red buds, dogwoods, irises and greening trees. While everything was coming alive outside, I was busy painting so many lovely things in my studio. From bottles and auction items, to nursery art and a logo design, April was a busy month!

The start of 2022 saw the opening of the coolest Children’s Museum in the area! Discovery Lab Tulsa moved to their new location just next door to the Gathering Place and opened in January. I was so excited to hear from the Discovery Lab about painting a piece of their new building for their upcoming Electric Lime Gala & Auction.

What event has more pop and clink than a wedding? Toasts are a favorite part of a wedding reception because you get to hear the fun stories about the couple, how they met, and how they fell in love.

The Arizona wedding from the recent save the date is finally here! And wait until you see how we took the tiny illustration as inspiration to create something BIG!

Happy 100th birthday Holland Hall!

For their big birthday bash, the annual auction went Dutch with Gezellig. A word without an English translation, it means a cozy and fun social gathering.

Tulsa Artist, Alexa’s Illustrations paints the new Tandy Wellness and Dining Hall at Holland Hall as an auction item for the annual fundraiser and celebration.

Alexa’s Illustrations watercolor prints are available as part of the Curations by Gilcrease retail and exhibit space at the Shops at Mother Road Market.

Valentines Day is a very popular gift giving holiday for portraits and this year, was no exception. In addition to lovely watercolor portraits of happy couples and lovely homes, I also opened up my very first round of painted bottle commissions!

Line illustrations of homes and venues is the new hot item this month and maybe for the rest of the year? Seriously, these little illustrations are so great and versatile!

I painted some lovely pieces of Philbrook in partnership with The Inviting Place for some upcoming spring weddings. The Philbrook gardens are one of the best places to see tulips in late March, early April. Plus, the gardens are beautiful year round with the gorgeous architecture of the buildings, structures, and garden art surrounding the perfectly manicured gardens.

Holidays in Tulsa are upon us. It may be my favorite time of year (see the Holidays in Tulsa Map I made if you have any doubt). I had the pleasure of working with a pretty cool organization for their end of year party.

Things get a little quiet around here in November as all the paintings seem to be gifts, but I love the thoughtfulness of your custom painting ideas. Also, get ready for something new and exciting that’s coming in the new year!
