December 2023 - Annual Review

2023 was a busy year! Alexa’s Illustrations has grown from custom portraits to be so much more. On top of your favorite Tulsa watercolor pet portraits and house portraits, I have been painting and illustrating a wider range of pieces and appearing at more in person events.

Speaking of Shopping- I was out and about even more this year. I started in March at my favorite OKGO Market, and set up a table at the amazing Maker’s Faire in August. To finish the year, Tulsa Country Club members could find me at the ladies’ Holiday Sip & Shop in December.

I love meeting you all at these in person events. All of your “oooo”s and “ahhh”s and “how cute”s are just my favorite to hear. You all are so kind and excited to talk about the art and ideas for projects sharing watercolor art with your loved ones.

After 4 years of annual holiday paintings & illustrations, this year’s Holiday Shop was stuffed with all the goodies needed to celebrate the Holidays in Tulsa.

Plus, Alexa’s Illustrations pieces and patterns are now available in even more places with the opening of my Spoonflower & Zazzle storefronts! Any fellow small business shops wanting to sell my pieces? I have you covered as well with my wholesale Faire Shop.

Weddings & Events- Always a fan of bespoke wedding paintings, my art was seen from Cabo to Cali, and in the deco world of Tulsa to NYC. In Tulsa weddings, my art was seen at Spain Ranch, Harwelden, the Philbrook, Mayo Hotel, and down at the lake town of Carlton Landing. This year saw a Tulsa People feature, a big info for event planners guide, and a growing licensable art library.

My art was featured on a gate opening invitation for the 2023 Opera Ball, and seen available at multiple auctions this year supporting local education & music organizations.

Small Business Partnerships- Small business pals make all this work. This year I worked with The Inviting Place, SALT Yoga for their Birthday, Loom & Co for their Birthday, Cook’s Bookmark, Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa Country Club, Pink Creek on their new buffalo Logo, and Justin Thompson Restaurant Group for a new restaurant opening in 2024.

Did you catch me Live Painting this year? In April, I was an inaugural performer at the Tulsa Orbit Festival at the Performing Arts Center. You could see me live painting in the hall as you went to the auditoriums to catch the performances. It was the most exciting place to paint and chat with you all! In June, Tulsa Country Club hosted my very first Watercolor Class where we painted their signature skyline view. Everyone was so talented and got to take home their very own masterpiece.

Cheers to birthdays, bachelorettes, engagements, showers, weddings, holidays

2023 was BIG in other ways too! I was chosen to create a watercolor mural for the Guthrie Walmart highlighting all things special to Oklahoma’s first capitol. Then I hosted my first Tulsa Watercolor Solo Exhibition
