Live Painting: TU Uncorked 2025

This last weekend I had the best time live painting at The University of Tulsa’s annual auction: TU Uncorked 2025! The TU Alumni Association put together an amazing event filled with so many tasty eats, fun activities, endless tunes, and great buys, all supporting the University of Tulsa!

I was honored to be a part of the entertainment and live auction by painting live during the event. I sat on the main stage the entire evening working on my piece of the very iconic McFarlin Library. It was so fun being back on campus (I went to grad school there) and celebrating with fellow Tulsa alums in a sea of blue and gold, and garden party attire.

McFarlin Library was selected as the subject of the painting because it’s the big iconic building at the end of the green space that divides the academic buildings. It’s a stunning view, complete with a garden that often has the flowers arranged to spell TU. This little brick and stone pit also serves as the location of the bonfire in the fall alumni event.

No pressure, but I completed the base layer of the painting by the time the auction started, and good thing, because it was the first item to be auctioned off during the live bidding!

The painting returned with me to the studio for a few days to add the finishing touches and I am absolutely in love with how it turned out! Such a big bold piece that’s one of a kind and tied to a fun event!
