Custom Ranch Map

I love sentimental gifts. This project started with a unique inquiry sounding like this:

“I have an idea for a Christmas present for my grandmother and my whole family will want a copy”.

The family land holds countless memories for its owners and their family. Childhood memories live on in family members who are now adults. The growing families introduce new generations to the traditions of spending holidays and summers here.

I enjoyed seeing the photos and hearing the memories unlocked throughout the process. The family & I worked together to inch things around just right, create the perfect custom watercolor icons, match fonts & vibes of the history of the place, and landed on the perfect (maybe favorite) gift of this family’s holiday exchange.

The watercolor icons were painted separately, digitized, and placed on top of a hand painted watercolor background.
