Live Painting with Alexa’s Illustrations

High Level: I work in watercolor to paint your keepsake portrait. We will work together before the event to finalize a draft of your portrait and I will paint it live at the event.
What to Paint: Subjects can range from painting from a reference photo (a favorite engagement photo or the venue, a special location, etc), or we can piece together a special scene when a complete reference photo is not available (the altar & decor, incorporating additional items/people/pets, wedding attire for example). But again, this will all be drafted and finalized in advance to the actual event.
Prep & Sketch: Our drafting prior to painting day ensures that you know exactly how your portrait will turn out, the quality will be consistent with my detailed style and technique, and leaves out the lengthy prep steps of watercolor and sketching to allow for more painting time for your guests to watch and enjoy. Additionally, watercolor is a unique medium compared to acrylic. With acrylic, artists can paint over top of previous work to later add in any changes or be flexible with poses, but this is not possible with watercolor due to the transparent nature of the medium.
Day of Event: Your painting will be created upright on an easel at a table set up. I have a compact table and chair I can bring or I can be stationed at a table and chair you wish to provide. I also have a few table covering options, but am happy to use a linen from your rentals that matches the rest of your aesthetic.
The Whole Package: Portrait sizes begin at 11x14 and prices start at $530 for local Tulsa events (price is subject to change based on busy times of year and painting complexity). My live painting service includes working together on a draft prior to the event, 5 hours of painting time on location, final touches added back in the studio, a high resolution digital file of the painting, and local Tulsa delivery of the final portrait.
Limitations: Live painting outside of the Tulsa area may also require travel and lodging accommodations as necessary.
Guest Portraits as favors are not currently offered.
